For years I’ve ruminated on the idea of sharing my (scary!?) thoughts with any who wanted to read them. I have over the years admired a number of bloggers, and aspired to emulate them. But despite the fact that I am relatively (for my generation) tech savvy, it’s always seemed so daunting to set up and publish a true blog. It’s so much simpler simply boring my friends on Facebook with massive posts that are very tl&dr.
So I refuse to avoid the journey any longer. These past years, in the face of SARS-CoV-2 and all sorts of related side issues, I’ve managed a number of “firsts” (for me). In each case, I had to overcome my natural tendency towards what I call “motionless inertia”. This blog is my effort to overcome another such non-effort brought on by static cling.
A promise at the start: This will NOT be an all politics blog. Those who know me know that some political commentary is inevitable. But politics is boring to most, and I’ve got so much more I’m interested in. Eventually, when I’ve got it all figured out, the blog will address five main areas:
Travel (of which I do a fair share)
Literature (of which I read a fair share)
Food (of which I most definitely eat a fair share, and then again some!)
Sports (of which I watch a fair share, and do a small portion)
Politics (of which I talk a fair share)
There will also inevitably be a potpourri section (this is the start of it), since I am a person of wide-ranging interests, who, let’s face it, cannot easily keep his mouth shut when he has an opinion. As an ex-teacher, I’ll be commenting on education from time to time. I will also include my thoughts on television/movie series (which will eventually be off-sited to a separate blog).
So, dive in, if you dare. The waters will often be warm and choppy. But, then, they don’t make macaroni and cheese in a pool of icy cold water.
